Projects

Craigencalt Trust has developed a network of paths throughout four miles of countryside around Burntisland and Kinghorn.
The Trust also maintains the quality of water in the loch and manges its use on behalf of Alcan Aluminium (UK) the owners.

All our paths are free of obstructions (steps, etc) and graded throughout to meet regulations for disabled use.  They are good for families with baby buggies, runners, cyclists and horse-riders.

NEW PROJECT.

DISABLED FISHING PLATFORM.

There are a few disabled fishermen and women who would like better facilities to fish, so volunteers from the Trust are preparing to build a suitable, safe platform.

NEW PROJECT.
WHINNYHALL PATH.

The old national cycle route up to Binnend from Burntisland is beyond use let alone repair.  With British Alcan's help (the landowner) the Trust has surveyed a disabled and family friendly route ready to look for funds. The photo shows an outstanding viewpoint on the route.

REVISION OF PATHWAYS BOOKLET.

Our second revision of the Pathways Booklet is out-of-print and needed revision.  We have added several new, accessible paths since the last revision and am in the process of completing a new set based on interactive, online Walk Sheets.  We are happy to provide a printed copy to anyone who would like a new "booklet".  Please put in a request on the "Contact Us" page.

NEW PROJECT.

PROPOSAL TO WIDEN THE SLUICE BRIDGE FOR DISABLED USE.

The Trust has provided an extensive network of local, accessible paths, and the sluice bridge is right in the middle of the network and too narrow for disabled and other uses.  The Trust has now widened the bridge, with landowner's permission (Ecology Centre), but there is still work to be done to make it strong enough to allow horses to use it.

NEW PROJECT.
LANDSLIP ON THE BINN.

During the storm of August 2020, a landslip occurred near the summit of The Binn hill, leaving the path precariously over a 400 foot drop.  The Trust has put up  a safety fence to help prevent any accidents.

The Dells Path entering Burntisland was damaged in the same storm.  With the generous assistance of British Alcan Aluminium we have repaired the path.  It is much used by parents taking children to the nursery and is now much improved.

Completed Projects.
